Midsummer greetings!
As we look toward this fall and what shape learning may take, I share with you a reflection on ‘learning’ by Virginia Church:
“Every day I learn more than I teach; I learn that half-knowledge of another’s life leads to false judgment; I learn that there is a surprising kinship in human nature; I learn that it’s a wise father who knows his own son; I learn that what we expect we get; I learn that there is more good than evil in this world; that age is a question of spirit; that youth is the best of life no matter how numerous its years; I learn how much there is to learn.”
At our 10 am, drive-in and on-line service tomorrow, we will focus on short, pithy parables of the kingdom of God and discovering the powerful persuasion of God’s love in Christian discipleship. The Drive-in service will be broadcast to the parking lot on 88.3 FM, and the on-line service will be a live-feed on the church facebook page. The service will also post on the church website, www.auburnmethodist.org. The parking lot will open at 9:30 am. I have attached last Sunday’s message to this email, and an invitation to the Sunday Coffee Fellowship Chat via zoom at 2 pm will be sent in a follow-up email. I have also forwarded to you a copy of the bulletin worship guide for tomorrow.
Men of the parish will be invited to a zoom fellowship at 7:30 am on Saturday, August 1st. The Relaunch Team will be meeting Tuesday (via zoom) at 6 pm. I will be on vacation from Monday, August 3rd through Wednesday, August 19th, but can be reached for emergencies. Coffee Fellowship Chat will not take place on the 9th or 16th, but I will send the worship guides for those dates with next week’s email. The drive-in and online services at 10 am will take place with Larry Jordan preaching on the 9th and Rev. Russ Peppe preaching on the 16th. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
May God’s grace be with you,
Pastor Steve Bascom
