Weekly Greeting: August 21

Good evening all!

Thank you for your birthday greetings! I had a restful vacation and am ready to anticipate the fall with you. I love this quote from Marcus Aurelius: “We ought to do good to others simply and as naturally as a horse runs, or a bee makes honey, or a vine bears grapes season after season without thinking of the grapes it has borne.” Service in the name of Christ is part of our Methodist DNA, so let us consider how God is calling us to serve during this challenging season…

I am grateful to Larry Jordan and Rev. Russ Peppe for preaching in my absence. This Sunday, we will reflect on Peter’s insight and witness to Jesus’ identity and its impact upon the formation of the Church. We are a vital link for the healing and transformation of the world! Please join us for our 10 am Drive-in service (88.3 fm) or our on-line, live-stream facebook service which will then be posted to our website at www.auburnmethodist.org. I will send a follow-up link to this email with a zoom invitation for any who wish to join us for our weekly 2 pm coffee fellowship chat. I have attached a copy of Sunday’s worship guide to this email as well.

It gives me joy to announce that Jean Adamen and Amanda Adamen (Turner) have united with UMCA as new members this month. In addition, Amanda Adamen and her 7-year-old daughter, Avrie-Mae were baptized yesterday. We certainly welcome them to our church family and look forward to introducing them when in-person worship resumes.
Enjoy the lingering of our lazy-hazy days of summer!

Much joy,
Pastor Steve Bascom
