Weekly Greeting: May 8

Happy Mother’s Day All,

We celebrate all who guide, nurture and ‘mother’ us into confidence, maturity and joy! Thank you for the gift(s) you are!

Tomorrow, we will gather for 8:30 am worship on zoom (invitation link to follow) and 10 am Drive-in service (88.3 FM) with livestream on You Tube, website (www.auburnmethodist.org) and UMCA Facebook Page. Our theme will recognize the appointment given to us as we live a life of discipleship, celebrating the mission and partnership with Christ to which we are called. We will also introduce the Many Waters District mission project for coronavirus relief in India and Brazil. Our District Superintendent Karen and her husband Jeff have contributed $1,000 in honor of Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar to kick off this initiative and we are all invited to participate in the UMCOR relief effort. $60 purchases a tank of oxygen which can save a life! If you wish to contribute by check through the church, please note in the memo: India Relief.

I have attached to the weekly greeting email the Worship Guide, Mission Update for this week, and copy of last week’s message. It was a joy to celebrate two Eagle Scout Courts of Honor at UMCA this week, and to join with area clergy and faith leaders of various traditions for a zoom National Day of Prayer service. I finished a Culture of Renewal, three-year course at a 3-day retreat this week, and look forward to sharing what I have learned over the months ahead. As of Monday, May 10th, my wife and I will have cleared the two week, post-vaccine buffer. Please be in prayer for Pat and Dave Timberlake as we gather for a graveside service for her Dad, Robert Ellery who died January 2020, and for Diana and Frank Pippin as we celebrate the lives of two of her sisters, Susan Smith-Simpson and Pamela Prewara at a combined graveside service.
Please hold Lucille Carrier in prayer. she had a fall and is recovering at d’Youville Pavillion rehab. Cards would certainly be appreciated (Room #249, 2 West).

Thank you for your prayer and faithful support and may peace guide your way,
Pastor Steve Bascom, UMCA
