In the midst of snow flurries, I greet you with the joy of Jesus! There
will be a Celebration of Life gathering at Schooner Estates this afternoon
(2-4 pm) honoring the life of Nancy Harris. Tomorrow will be frigid, but
we will gather for worship with the theme of ‘brightening and flavoring the
world as light and salt’ in Jesus’ metaphor from Matthew 5.
The Youth Group will make and distribute sub sandwiches (benefitting World
Vision sponsored youth) in time for the Superbowl (Go Pats!). Following
services, they will join in a meal together and will not, therefore, be
meeting again at 4 pm as customary.
Next Sunday (2/15), we will celebrate the fruitful ministries of Cherie
Downing (church school superintendent) and Kay Little (Christian Education
chair) over the last 17 years and thank them for their work among us as
mentors of spiritual formation. The celebration will take place during the
latter part of the 10:30 am worship service, and a coffee fellowship
reception will follow. As part of that, I invite you to bring cards (card
shower) to place in baskets for each. Please take note of the Bulletin
Board between (lounge and my office) which has been crafted as a
celebration of thanks to them both.
I will be at a ‘Tending the Fire’ continuing education retreat 2/10-12.
