God’s joy be with you! This past Sunday we enjoyed a festival blessing with
four other UM churches of the Androscoggin Cooperative Parish for an
outdoor service at Lisbon Falls. 125 attended the service (35 from UMC of
Auburn) and over $1,000 was contributed for the work of UM Economic
Ministry in Salem, ME. ‘Gathered in Grace’ was a worship event filled with
joy, energy and possibility!
Empire Grove also celebrated Camp Meeting this past week with lots of
fun-filled events. Sunday night Vesper services (7 pm) continue through 9/6
and are open to all.
This Sunday (August 2nd), Don Malpass will lead the 8:30 am service
(without communion) and Rev. Richard Cullen will lead the 10:30 am service
(with communion). August 2nd will be the last Sunday to receive material
and $ contributions for the ‘Fill the Bus’ program, providing school
supplies for children in Poland schools. Thank you for your missional
contributions to this.
On Tuesday, August 4th, 12 n, church school families are invited to Dr.
Drew’s Animals for an afternoon of fun and relaxation. Rosemary Malpass is
new editor for our parish newsletter, The Beacon. The August dead-line for
contributed articles is August 10th. Please use this email address for

City Mission will conclude its work with the homeless as of Wednesday,
August 26th (5 pm dinner). There will be a celebration of the City Mission
story and journey shared that evening. There may well be opportunities to
serve in a different capacity in the future, but I do want to express
gratitude for the extraordinary effort that has gone into this vital work
over the past 20 years. THANK YOU!
We are thankful for partner non-profits which have stepped up to offer
services to the homeless of the greater L/A region and support their
continuing efforts.
