Happy Fourth of July! On this sesquicentennial of our nation’s birth, we
remember our heritage, thank God for blessings of liberty, pray for
healing, and seek God’s will for the future. May your celebrations be safe
and blessed.
At services of worship tomorrow, we will honor this national journey, share
the gift of holy communion, and place our trust in God’s providence. At the
8:30 am service, we will rejoice in the baptism of Bruce Clark. We will
also invite participation in a local ‘student school & teacher supplies’
project in partnership with the West Auburn Congregational Church. This
missional focus will continue through 8/2.
There will be a Celebration of Life service for David Churchill at UMCA on
Friday, July 10th, 1 pm. On Saturday, July 11th, 7:30 am, our men’s
fellowship breakfast will gather with a presentation by Lynn Briggs of the
Preacher’s Aid Society. All men of the parish are invited.
I invite you to reflect on a quotation by former President Lyndon B.
Johnson, “In the long view of history, these years are the early summer of
America. Our land is young. Our strength is great. Our course is far from
run…” I might add the following: “God, grant us the vision, courage and
grace to champion blessings of liberty for all!”
