Weekly Greeting: September 9, 2022

Good evening parish!

WELCOME BACK!  This Sunday following 10 am worship (September 11 at 11), I invite you to a Welcome Back Picnic to celebrate the beginning of our fall schedule with worship, church school and spiritual formation. We will also celebrate Calvary UMC friends! I hope you can join us! In addition to Godly Play, the church school will be celebrating Rally Day with ‘Sundaes on Sunday!’

At 8:30 am worship, we will focus on the joy of heaven and earth when one soul discovers the amazing grace of God, based on the twin parables of the ‘Lost Sheep’ and ‘Lost Coin.’ At 10 am, the Volunteers in Mission Team (VIM) will present pictures and commentary on the work they accomplished in Washington County while on team, followed by a facilitated conversation w/question and answer panel discussion. Nancy Craig will introduce our new mission project for September/October. Sunday afternoon, there will be an Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Riley Gabriel.

Handbell choir rehearsals begin on Monday, September 12th. If you are interested in ringing bells, please contact Bill Buzza (wbuzza@gmail.com). Please keep our sisters and brothers across the pond in prayer as they mourn Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, but also the people of Pakistan who have suffered great loss (including 400 children) and flooding over a third of their nation. Fifty million have been displaced, and economic losses exceed $30 billion. Sadly, famine is likely to follow. If you feel led by God to offer a donation for relief, please designate it: UMCOR for Pakistan Relief.

May God’s grace be with you,

Pastor Steve Bascom
