Weekly Greeting: October 6, 2022

Good afternoon parish,

What a joy it was to return to a traditional way of sharing communion this past Sunday! We were again blessed with the beautiful harp accompaniment by Penny Price. This coming Sunday, we will be celebrating United Women of Faith Sunday focusing on themes of transformation, healing and gratitude with the gospel story, “Jesus healing ten lepers.” The accompanying Missions Opportunities attachment has detail about how to give for Hurricane Ian relief, if you feel led by God’s Spirit to do so.

At our service this coming Sunday, we will award Mission Pins for extraordinary service, and celebrate the transformation of United Methodist Women into United Women of Faith. I also want to personally invite you to our first PUBLIC SUPPER (since the pandemic began) on Saturday, October 15th, 5 pm. For those who wish to come early and choose their piece of homemade pie, the Park Avenue Pickers will be playing from 4:30 pm. Cost of the supper is: $10 adults, $5 ages 6-12, free for kids 5 and under.

Our All-Parish (UMCA & Calvary) annual church conference is scheduled for Thursday, October 27th, 7-8:30 pm in the UMCA sanctuary. All are invited, and all members have vote. Our new District Superintendent, Arlene Tully will officiate. Come and hear some of the vision on the horizon for twin city Methodists!

As your autumn journey deepens, I trust you will find your way to apple cider and a cider donut (pumpkin latte, anyone?)

Much joy,

Pastor Steve Bascom
