Weekly Greeting: June 18

Good afternoon parish,

Blessed Father’s Day weekend, summer solstice, and recent federal holiday, Juneteenth, observing the end of slavery in the US. We will honor these in our services of worship on Sunday (8:30 am, in person & zoom; 10 am, in person & livestream). I will also report briefly on the 2021 New England Annual Conference.  Our worship theme will be, “Strength which Bends,” recognizing the resilience of confidence and adaptation in storm and challenge.

On Friday, June 25th, 11 am (calling hour at 10 am), UMC of Auburn, we will celebrate the life of beloved member Lucille Carrier who passed away on Saturday, June 12th. Lucille sang soprano with The Wesleyan Singers, served as a member of Ruth Circle of UMW and participated in many ways. I will miss her at our monthly worship services at Chapman House. Because of Lucille’s service, the Friday morning Upper Room Devotional zoom will not meet this week. Please remember the families of Richard Paine and Clarissa Damon, too, as they gather to commend their loved ones to God’s eternal embrace.

May each of you be blessed with a summer of renewal!

Joy always,

Pastor Steve Bascom, UMC of Auburn
