March 9, 2024: UMCOR Sunday, Spring Ahead, and a “Day With the Bishop”!

Good evening parish,
God’s grace be with you! I just returned from New Hampshire where I officiated at a colleague’s Celebration of Life service and was reminded that I had not yet sent my Weekly Greeting and attachments. Here they are. It is my hope that those of us who can, will gather for worship services tomorrow. I rarely cancel services (though in the case of a power outage at church, we would have to), but always hope you will use your judgment regarding safe travel, regardless of what your responsibilities may be.
Tomorrow is UMCOR Sunday (United Methodist Committee on Relief). The special offering supports the administrative work of UMCOR, so that 100% of all other donations throughout the year go to the specific project(s) intended. Thank you for your support. We will also be blessed to have a visiting cellist joining us (10:30 am) for musical selections throughout the service.
Remember to change your clocks tonight (we spring forward an hour), so that you don’t arrive for worship after it is over. I want to express congratulations to Isa Russell who became an Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor at UMCA earlier today. Way to go!
For those who wish to attend, we are invited on Saturday (March 16th, 1 pm, Brunswick UMC) to a Many Waters District ‘Day with the Bishop.’ This will be a hybrid gathering, so folks may attend in person or via livestream. Registration is requested on the district website. Later that day, I invite you to our March Public Supper (5 pm) with musical accompaniment by the Park Avenue Pickers.
God’s grace be with you,
Pastor Steve Bascom
