Good morning, parish,
May God anchor your faith with growth and grace! As we gather for Sunday Rally Day worship services, we enjoy the return of church school, youth group, Wesleyan Singers and all things fall. At worship, we will consider the growth of compassion in Jesus’ own faith journey, even as we court its growth in our lives, too. We will also learn more about some of the projects our world mission – mission shares support. Sunday is Grandparents Day, so I encourage youngers to call their grandparents to wish them joy, and olders to call their grandchildren to wish them joy. Its a win-win!
Tomorrow, Saturday, September 7th, I invite men of the parish to attend the monthly men’s fellowship breakfast (7:30 am, UMCA) which will feature a presentation on the use of drones. Later, at 10 am, there will be a graveside committal service for Marcia Akers at Grace Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery to which all are invited. On Tuesday, September 10th, 5:30 pm, UMCA, United Women of Faith participants are invited to a Pot-Luck Supper with liturgy of Prayer and Self-Denial. Also, if you have articles for the October issue of the Beacon, be sure to send them to editor Edith Ellis on that day.
In behalf of all who benefitted, I thank Joel Irish for the beautiful tomatoes he has shared over the past few weeks. Yum!
May the peace of Christ guide your day,
Pastor Steve Bascom
