Weekly Greeting – November 8, 2024

Good evening, parish,
I know that as I write this greeting, emotions run high from the results of the election. Some celebrate, others lament, and some are fearful of what may come. Please know that I am available to listen, if you need someone in whom to confide. This Sunday, we will focus on the story of the Widow’s Mite and the power of faith in shaping the world. It is also Veterans Day weekend, and we will recognize those among us who have served. The church office will be closed on Monday.
On Wednesday night, 7 pm, at UMC of Auburn, we will gather for our Vital Merger Conferences to vote on the merger of UMC of Auburn with Calvary UMC. DS Arlene Tully will preside, and each church must support the merger by a two-thirds majority for the merger to be approved. Please let me know if you need a ride. Joel Irish will host the zoom room for those who wish to attend online. I will send the invitation link on Wednesday morning. All full, professing members have vote, but all are welcome to attend. The Better Together team has adopted a merger document which will be sent electronically on Sunday morning. A limited number of hard copies will be available for those who are not online or do not have print capability.
Sunday is the deadline for submissions to the December issue of The Beacon.
You continue in my prayers,
Pastor Steve Bascom
