Weekly Greeting: January 3, 2025 – Merger, Membership, Missions, and Epiphany!

Happy New Year parish!
As of 1/1/2025, we are one parish again (merger of Calvary UMC and UMC of Auburn) with the continuing name: United Methodist Church of Auburn! Early this year, we will celebrate this union at a 10:30 am worship service. Membership rosters from each church are combined as of 1/1/2025, retaining original dates of membership. A Membership Audit team will try to contact Calvary members in particular to make sure they wish to continue as members of the newly merged UMC of Auburn.
Tomorrow morning (1/4/25), our parish men’s fellowship will meet for breakfast (7:30 am). All men of the parish are invited. On Sunday, we will celebrate Epiphany and begin a new year with holy communion and a renewal of Wesley’s Covenant Prayer. In addition to the Worship Guide, I have attached newly published copies of both the UMCA Nominations Roster for 2025 and the UMCA Budget for 2025. Please print these for your reference. A limited number of copies will be available from the church office for those who don’t have print access.
As previously announced, City Mission is now its own 501.c3 non-profit, but its weekly program continues: Sundays (8 am to 1 pm, breakfast/lunch) and Wednesdays, 5 pm (dinner). This past Sunday, over 140 were served! Thank you for your continuing support of this vital work.
Our next Public Supper is scheduled for Saturday, January 18th, 5 pm.
Thank you for your continuing prayer and support of the UMCA parish!
Much joy,
Pastor Steve Bascom
