Weekly Greeting – May 25, 2025 – Memorial Day Weekend Service

<jderouche@gmail.com>

Good afternoon parish,

May God’s grace be with you this Memorial Day weekend. At services
tomorrow, we will remember those who gave the ultimate price for the
freedom we experience. It will also be our last Sunday of support for the
Salt & Light Community which serves at-risk youth right here in the city of
Auburn. If you wish to attend the Many Waters District Conference on
Thursday (6:30 pm), let me know and I will forward the zoom access link to
you.

Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, “The hero is no braver than an ordinary
man, but he is brave five minutes longer.” As we honor the lives of those
who died in national service, we think of those who gave that extra five
minutes at the cost of their lives. We honor them with tribute and
remembrance, but even more so by championing the values for which they
fought. We carry their work forward, because we can…and they cannot.

May the latter days of spring bring renewal of soul and spirit,

Pastor Steve Bascom
