Greetings Parish,
As we join hearts in communion fellowship this Sunday, we also recognize
the ascension of Jesus. As he was taken up from his disciples, Jesus
promised to send the gift of the Holy Spirit who would remind them of his
words and give instruction in spiritual formation. The Holy Spirit guides
us in spiritual growth today, too! Our Handbell Choir will help center our
hearts on God’s presence, and we will celebrate the baptism of Bijou Mbelu
Enahoro and receive her as our newest member. Bijou speaks multiple
languages and is a translator for both High Street Food Cupboard and City
Mission. For many months now, she has anticipated her vow to support the
church through her ‘prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness.’ Truly a
blessing!
During the month of June, our mission focus will be on the UMC of Auburn
Parking Lot Repaving Project. Every gift (large or small) is appreciated.
For those who are prayerfully willing to invest in the future of our
church, there will be a second-mile ‘Pledge Opportunity’ included in the
Worship Guide. It will enable participants to finance a pledge over three
years to support the repaving work.
On Friday, June 6th, at 6 pm, Ryan Slocum and his friend Mackenzie Renner
will present a Praise Concert at UMC of Auburn. There is no charge, but a
freewill offering will be received. On Saturday, 6/7, 7:30 am, men of the
parish will gather for our monthly fellowship breakfast. Please note also
the following: Celebration of Life for Betty Fake (6/14, 2 pm, UMCA) and
Celebration of Life for Thomas Pederson (6/20, 11 am, Crosman Funeral Home,
Lisbon Falls, committal service to follow).
God’s grace be with you,
Pastor Steve Bascom, UMCA
