Weekly Greeting for August 24, 2025 – Encounter at the Synagogue, Repaving Update

Greetings Parish,

I’m back from vacation and looking forward to seeing you on Sunday! We will
reflect on an encounter Jesus had at synagogue which prompted him to set
aside the ‘order of worship’ to heal a person in crisis. Sometimes the best
form of worship is a ‘disorder of worship.”

I also want to remind the parish that we will be repaving the parking lot
this coming week, so the church campus will be closed to all from Monday,
August 25th through Saturday, August 30th. The church office, too, will be
closed. We expect to be able to gather for worship on 8/31 at regular
times, but the striping will take place a couple of weeks later. I can be
reached at c339-440-3746 if anyone has questions or concerns.

Also, Cherie Downing will be retiring from the position of church school
superintendent as of January 2026, so if you or someone you know is
interested in the paid position, please let Kathy Gleason or me know so
that we can get an application to them.

Many thanks,

Pastor Steve Bascom
