As we come to the last of our ‘summer’ Sundays, I want to thank Kary Coffin
and all who provided special music for worship services throughout the
season. The anthems have truly been inspiring! Also, thank you to all of
you have given to the support of the parking lot repaving project. It has
gone very well, and we should be fine for gathering on Sunday for worship.
The striping (marking parking spaces) will be delayed for a couple of weeks
until the pavement is settled properly.
This Sunday is the last of the Vesper services at Empire Grove (Sundays, 7
pm). I am grateful for the relationship we have with the Grove and the
wonderful residents there! The church office will be closed this Monday for
Labor Day, but will be open on Tuesday (9 am to 12 n).
At Sunday worship, we will consider the ‘deeper hospitality’ which God
invites us to offer. How can we best welcome neighbors and friends to our
church family and community? Our men’s fellowship breakfast will be held
this coming Saturday, September 6th, at 7:30 am at UMCA. Visitors are most
welcome!
God’s grace be with you during these Ember Days of August,
Pastor Steve Bascom
